End of Summer Artists’ Residency
/Summer’s end is approaching, and at Clinardance we are thinking ahead to an exciting fall season! We have a wealth of classes, workshops, events, and performances scheduled in the upcoming months, and now is the time to plan and prepare.
This October Clinardance will be part of a Chicago Sinfonietta collaboration. The performances (Oct. 3 in Naperville, and October 5 at Symphony Center in Chicago) will explore the intersection of classical music and percussive dance. Clinardance will start off the evening performing a new original work to Roberto Sierra’s Fandangos, followed by tap dance virtuoso Cartier Williams joining the orchestra for a fresh take on Stravinsky’s The Firebird: Suite. The dancers will then unite for a joyful encore on Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances.
To complete the original choreography for these performances, Clinardance will be spending the last week of August in an arts residency at the Tofte Lake Center in Ely, MN. The
Tofte Lake Center is a retreat for artists, scholars and leaders wishing to expand and deepen their creative potential through collaboration with artists and thinkers in other fields. The facilities at Tofte feature an outdoor dance studio, where Clinardance will be finalizing and setting the staging for the new work. Leaving Chicago’s interruptions behind for a week, the dancers look forward to submerging themselves into the creative process!
